The AP (Anteroposterior) View of the Humerus is a standard X-ray projection used to visualize the entire length of the humerus, from the shoulder to the elbow. In this view, the patient typically stands or sits with the arm fully extended and supinated (palm facing forward), and the X-ray beam passes from front (anterior) to back (posterior), centered on the midshaft of the humerus. This positioning provides a clear, undistorted image of the humeral shaft, head, neck, and both proximal and distal joints (shoulder and elbow), allowing assessment of fractures, dislocations, bone lesions, or alignment abnormalities. The AP view is often complemented by a lateral or oblique projection for a comprehensive evaluation.
