Lateral View of the nasal bones or paranasal sinuses (PNS) is an important X-ray projection used to provide a side profile of the nasal structures and sinus cavities. In this view, the X-ray beam passes from one side of the patient’s face to the other, capturing a lateral image of the nasal bones, frontal sinus, sphenoid sinus, and parts of the ethmoid sinus. It is particularly useful in evaluating nasal bone fractures, assessing soft tissue swelling, and identifying any displacement or deformity of the nasal structure. This view also helps in visualizing fluid levels or opacities in the sinuses that may indicate sinusitis or other infections.
